L'ISOLA SMALL ENSEMBLE

L'ISOLA SMALL ENSEMBLE

Although Ciro Perrino has been satisfied with L'ISOLA with classical Symphony orchestra, he still wants to give a different interpretation to the album.
He wants to place the compositions in another key.
Ciro believes that the execution is missing an earthly appearance. The music seems to lack the 'Sensuous Aspect'. This is one of the important elements we need to express ourselves. He performs numerous experiments.
Finally he brings the whole island back to earth by making the following changes.
He omits most of the strings group, he keeps only the cello and the double bass. He strengthens the percussion side and the silent rhythms. Finally he puts the human voice more in the foreground.

So he gives the new version of L'ISOLA back to the earth and releases it from the heavenly embrace, which the version with the classical symphony orchestra has.

Now we are at the publication in 2006 of L’ISOLA with the small ensemble. An album with the same title and the same compositions.

The first album with his celestial image and the second album with his earthly image. The melodies got their originality back by the execution of the ensemble with twelve musicians. The melodies are more in the center because of the percussion group – the driving force in the creation and development of the compositions.

In this version it is much easier to hear the echoes of the composers, which Ciro loves, from medieval music to baroque, from Russian romanticism to modern composers.

Now he believes that with these two versions is reached a good balance. Now he  can listen and enjoy both versions of L'ISOLA as a separate piece of music. His preference at the time of release goes to the last version. He sees the latter L'ISOLA as the homecoming of a dear friend, who has gone too long.
