Reiki Master

Music is the language of love
Ciro Perrino, famous musician from the Italian progressive rock of the seventies is composer of instrumental music from the 1980s. In 1995 he comes into contact with Reiki at a very special moment of his life, when his father is dying of cancer. Reiki supported him then and has become an indispensable tool in his daily life, both for his music and for himself.

Sono divenuto consapevole della mia parte attiva durante la "creazione" di un brano, mentre prima era predominante una parte che definirei "passiva".
(I became aware of my active role during the creation of a composition, while previously it happened more unconsciously).

How does Reiki participate in your creativity with your experience as a musician and composer?

My experience with Reiki gives me a better understanding of myself and it gives me more clarity about my personal journey. I can investigate what music really means. Reiki has brought a lot of enthusiasm to me. In addition to the joy that the music gives me,  becomes the composing of music more personal. The music is more harmonious and more intense. I am more aware of my active role during the creation of a composition, while previously it happened more unconsciously. Now I understand that there is a very close relationship between healing through Reiki and music.

What does music mean to you?

For me the music represents the ability to express myself, to channel a part of my inner motives through the physical piano. Everything changes when I start to write. I've discovered that it has to do with the soul and the connection with yourself. A door is easily opening for the listener. This door brings us into contact with a harmonious atmosphere, divine music. For me  a connection arise between my inner world, the cosmos and nature. The music originates from imitating nature. That’s why I have intensively contact with nature by composing. After my experience with Reiki, I understand that the origin of the music is the light, the color and the energy. I feel that my music  can bring the human part together with the divine part.

Do you believe that as a composer you have a channel or a medium that receives and sends?

The music does not belong to the composer. It comes from deep and distant spaces, like the noise of a leaf or the turbulence of the wind.

When I communicate by listening to something of myself, I have become a medium that converts my feelings into sounds in a language that everyone understands. The music goes through my body first, through my heart. Through this process I have become the medium. The music that flows through me determines my existence, is processed as a spiritual processor, and eventually comes literally out of my hands. This link of hands, music and Reiki is very important. By the last editing with my hands the music and Reiki get an intelligible form, which has become tangible.

Working with music requires discipline. Do you see similarities in working with Reiki?

You have to yield discipline daily, both for music and for Reiki. You have to do this, day after day, by constantly being in contact with yourself and the outside world. By discipline we learn. Music and Reiki require that. Daily music requires a constant commitment to sound as it is intended. Miracles do not exist. The miracle is the daily effort. This also applies for Reiki: daily commitment. This experience has brought me some sort of ritual to handle these two different areas. So I have discovered the sacred aspect of music and of Reiki.

Do you recognize yourself in a well-known saying of Mrs Takata: practicing, practicing and practicing?

Yes, that is my motto, my way to tackle everything. In daily practice you get things done by working hard. The desire alone is sometimes not enough. Everything requires commitment. The dedication brings joy and rest. This is true for Reiki and for the music.

Are the principles of Reiki helping you in exercising your daily work in music?

Yes, especially because nowadays I don't have to worry about the first notes or chords of a composition. Before I was always afraid that I would not succeed in making a start for a new composition or song. The Reiki principles teach us to have patience, after it to decide and so to be sure of a good result.

Do you feel a Maestro or a pupil after so many years in the music world?

I always feel like a student because the music still amazes me every day. There is so much music to record, process and convert. It is the job of the composer/musician to learn continually and to be always a pupil. I will always continue to do so.

Do you still have a wish for the future?

The music I compose is instrumental, intended for the performance by an orchestra. The music describes and determines the conditions for the performer and the listener, from conceiving to listening. It can bring something to each of us. I want that my music brings rest, peace and joy, that the soul and the spirit are recognizable in a universal language.

The music is the only language on earth that can unite people without knowing what part of the planet they are coming to, what language they speak, which religion they profess or which culture they have. It is my desire to bring joy by music to the people and so to contribute to the unity of all people.
